So I’m getting ready for work, but the past week, or shall I say month has been one of the most memorable, if not hectic in recent memory.
First off, my main source of income is a job in retail…
Today I was set to work 5-9:30, then it changed to 3-9:30, and now it’s 12-9:30…but I’m not complaining. I kinda like my job, albeit sometimes I feel like quitting. The reason for this is that I went to college to become a writer, and right now, seeing all (or almost all) of my highschool classmates have jobs that are amazing (SSR for A&E, writer for VH1, editor for the Yale University press, musician, actor)…and it depresses me.
All my life I was told that my writing skill, and imagination would make me “famous”, and now, I work in retail, I still write lyrics, but can’t play an instrument to save my life. I just really wish I could find a band that’d take a chance with one of my lyric’s and yes while making some money off of it is important to me, I just want to get my foot in the door to the music industry, or photography (by the way the header is an original picture) or something I love.
Also my good friend Coury Palermo has a new song posted on his myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/courypalermo
If you have a page, please add him and check out his song “Empty Sheets”, it’s truly an amazing piece of music…and before you say “why doesn’t he help you get your lyrics out”, Coury likes to write, and perform his own music. He recently chronicled the making of his forthcoming album on his own blog.
Until next time
